Undercover LapTop Sleeve From Urban OutFitters

Undercoverlaptopsleeve

Good idea.  For some people, their laptop is their net worth.  They probably don’t have renter’s insurance (which is cheap by the way), and if their laptop gets stolen, it’s all over.  To help alleviate some of this paranoia comes this unsuspecting laptop sleeve from Urban Outfitters that looks like a weathered old shipping package. Upon closer inspection of course, it will reveal its true identity, but from afar it really looks like a piece of mail that’s been sitting around for a while.  The shell is water and tear resistant and has expandable velcro closures for a secure fit for most any laptop.  On sale now for $32.

I admit, this one surprised me when I first found it.  It’s a bit of a puzzler that someone would actually test this and discover that, it’s indeed possible to make not only a computer keyboard but also an optical mouse out of bamboo. But that’s exactly what we’ve got here, thanks to the crew out at Brando. The keyboard is a normal 109-key keyboard–no hotkeys for email or multimedia here–and the mouse is your standard two button scroll wheel mouse–no tilt wheel or programmable extra buttons.  It’s all a bit plain vanilla, but it works with any Windows 2000 and up system as well as any Linux system. Plus you get the added panache of being able to say that your computer is environmentally friendly. You can buy the computer from Brando directly for $39.00, the mouse by itself for $19.00, or get a full combo pack for $52.00, a six dollar savings.

ICD Vega-1

See you later Apple and Michael Arrington, hellos ICD.  IC who?  Innovative Converged Devices.  Don’t worry, if you haven’t heard of them before I think you’re with the majority, such as myself.  Today they announced something called the Vega and it looks bad ass to say the least.

ICD Vega-2

Inside the 7, 11 and 15-inch touchscreen device (no word on resistive or capacitive; hoping for the latter) is a Tegra powered graphics processor which should make for some explosively fantastic visuals.  Other wonderful features include an Android OS, 3G connectivity, 512MB of RAM, 1.3MP webcam, microSD, Bluetooth 2.1, WiFi b/g, USB 2.0, 3.5mm headphone jack, magnetic dock, accelerometer, ambient light sensor and dual digital microphones. If you’ve got any kind of interest in e-readers, then you know they can be a bit pricey.  But the jetBook-Lite from ECTACO is looking to change all that by selling for $149.95. The jetBook-Lite is officially, as of this writing, the cheapest e-reader device on the market. Now, when you get a low-cost device like this, naturally you give up a few things.  Tops on the list is 3G wireless connectivity and color secondary screens. However, what you DO get is support for pretty much any ebook format on the face of the earth, including eReader DRM from Barnes and Noble.  Plus, you also get support for multiple languages and a built-in dictionary, a rotating screen that can handle portrait or landscape mode, and last but not least, and incredible twenty three hours of run time on the strength of four AA batteries. It’s a pretty good value for a cheap e-reader.

It comes with Lenovo Enhanced Experience for Windows 7, basically optimization that results in faster bootup and shutdown times as well as easier backup.
